Once upon a time, in a faraway kingdom of sponges and similar dishwashing implements, there lived a role-playing game. Its name was In Nomine, which means something in Latin. It was published by Steve Jackson Games, who also publish the GURPS version (bonus for Australian readers: check out the Mil Sims description of GURPS In Nomine, because it's always fun when they insult the stuff they're supposed to be selling). In Nomine had a ground-breaking system, because it weighed over seven tonnes and had to be moved by crane. My origami skills being sadly lacking, I could not make myself a crane, and so I've never actually read any of the book. But I understand it has various types of demons and angels in it, and one of the demons is the Balseraph. The Balseraph's schtick is that their view of the world is bizarrely distorted collection of lies and...more lies. It's just lies left right and centre for the Balseraphs, which means they trip over a lot and usually have to hire a professional cleaning service to get rid of them.
The picture on this page shows Yoshito as a Balseraph. Being both demonic and a compulsive lier, a Balseraphic form seemed quite appropriate to Yoshi's ACR persona, so this' the version of him that'd be seen in it if I ever get tired of being the thing's resident 'transient Yoshito'. |
